sleepdreams® bedwetting alarm
The Sleepdreams® Bedwetting Alarm is an ideal treatment solution for bedwetting.
It is a mattress style alarm that does not attach to your child in any way and is an ideal non-invasion bedwetting solution.
The Sleepdreams® Bedwetting Alarm utilises a sensor pad that is
placed in-between the mattress and sheet of your child’s bed. The sensor pad is then plugged into the alarm by cord.
Switch it on and place the alarm by the side of the bed, under it, or even wall mount it with the supplied bracket.
It runs on a standard 9v battery for use (same as a smoke alarm).
When your child wets the bed it will trigger the sensor pad to activate the alarm (which is very loud)
and will wake your child up.
Non Invasive
This solution is non-invasive.
There are other solutions out there that require you to hook up your child to wires and sensors.
Even the wireless solutions still require a sensor to be attached to your child.
As a parent I would not want that and I am guessing you wouldn’t either.
With this alarm nothing is attached to your child.
A sensor mat is placed under the sheet and when your child wets it, the alarm goes off.
The last thing you need when addressing such a sensitive issue is to wire your child up in any way
and cause even more self esteem issues.
The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne hires this type of non-invasive mattress alarm to parents
as its preferred solution.
Bedwetting
Bedwetting is a common childhood problem. Medically it is referred to as Nocturnal Enuresis.
Bedwetting occurs from a lack of bladder control at night in a person who has reached an age
at which control is to be expected.
Why a Bedwetting Alarm Solution?
Bedwetting is a problem that causes stress for both children and parents. It can lead to a loss of self esteem and lack of confidence in a child.
Treatment should be sought for children aged 5 and over if bedwetting persists.
Bedwetting alarms are considered the most recommended, effective, and quickest solution.
The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne states:
“research has shown that these alarms will help more than 80% of children become dry, and most children will stay dry. Alarms have good long-term success and fewer relapses than medication.”
Behavioural Conditioning
(how the alarm works as a treatment)
When the child begins to wet, the sensor pad will also get wet and activate the alarm.
The alarm will wake up the child.
Because the feeling of a full bladder and the sound of the alarm happen at the same time,
the child’s brain associates one with the other. Eventually the child will learn to wake and go to the bathroom
before they wet the bed when they have a full bladder.
Treatment can take from 2-8 weeks.
